On 10 February 2026, Tbilisi State Medical University hosted a graduation ceremony honoring students who successfully completed their studies in Georgian- and English- language programmes at Tbilisi State Medical University. 142 students completed the Georgian-language undergraduate programmes of the Faculties of Dentistry, Pharmacy, Public Health, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as the bachelor’s programmes in Nursing and Midwifery. In addition, 50 students graduated from the English-language programmes of the International Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
The graduates were congratulated by Professor Rusudan Rukhadzе, Vice-Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University: “Today is a day of great pride—a truly special occasion filled with joy, dignity and a profound sense of responsibility. You have reached a significant milestone and officially joined the ranks of professionals whose vocation is to safeguard human life, health, and dignity. You have chosen a challenging yet profoundly honorable path. While you leave the lecture halls behind, you now begin a far more consequential journey. Ahead of you lie lifelong learning, complex decisions, and moments when your professional knowledge will be entrusted with human hope and confidence. Always remember that each patient, everyone, represents the highest value of your professional path. Carry the name of this University with honor; be professionals grounded in science, guided by strong ethical principles, and committed to humanism. Society places great trust in you and we are confident that you will justify that trust with distinction. On behalf of the University, I warmly congratulate you on this important achievement. The Deans of the faculties also addressed the graduates, extending their congratulations and best wishes for professional success.
The Dean of the International Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Associate Professor Davit Topuria, stated: “Congratulations—you are winners and are now embarking upon the great path of science. You will encounter many challenges along the way, yet I am confident that you will overcome them successfully, as you have already achieved a significant goal—earning your degree. We have gathered here to celebrate your accomplishment and to share this joyful occasion with you. We, your Deans and Professors, will take great pride in your future successes.
The Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Professor Nana Kipiani, remarked: “Dear graduates, today is one of the happiest days of your lives. I congratulate you, as well as your parents, family members and friends. Graduating from the Tbilisi State Medical University is not an easy task, yet you have achieved this through immense dedication and many sleepless nights. I sincerely wish you great professional success and personal happiness.”
The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Tamar Chikviladze, noted: “Thank you for choosing our university and for accompanying us through to the completion of your studies. At times you may experience hardships or even failure, but you will also rise and achieve victory. Your life will be shaped by what you forge for yourselves. Create a world in which you wish to live—one where you can pursue your profession and cherish relationships with those you love.”
The Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, Professor Davit Zarnadze, stated: “Congratulations on today’s achievement! I wish you to be individuals who are always needed everywhere. Our slogan— ‘Towards the Future with Tradition’—is no coincidence. Tradition is fundamental to us and the future is embodied in you, the graduates of Tbilisi State Medical University.”
The Dean of the Faculty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Professor Lela Maskhulia, addressed the audience: “Dear colleagues, distinguished guests and graduates, I congratulate you on this important day. Very soon you will begin your professional practice and your ability to adapt and remain resilient within a complex and rapidly evolving healthcare environment will be of great importance. I wish you success in your professional endeavors.”
The coordinator of the bachelor’s Programme in Nursing and Midwifery, Assistant Professor Medea Jgharkava, added: “This day is filled with boundless emotion and immense joy. I congratulate you and wish you worthy achievements in your profession. Always remember that your calling card is Tbilisi State Medical University—the largest medical school in Georgia.”
Both ceremonies were conducted in a particularly solemn and emotional atmosphere. In keeping with tradition, the events continued with the formal donning of academic gowns. At the conclusion of the ceremonies, the graduates collectively took the professional oath, reaffirming their commitment to professional ethics and responsibility toward their patients.
