Professor Tinatin Tkemaladze Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical University was awarded for outstanding scientific achievement

On 11 February, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science is celebrated worldwide. An award ceremony honoring women and girl scientists was organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia and the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia. Within the framework of the event, Professor Tinatin Tkemaladze, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical University and Professor of the Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics, was awarded a certificate of recognition for her exceptional contribution to science.

Professor Tinatin Tkemaladze is the author of more than 70 scientific publications and has served as both speaker and organizer at numerous international conferences. She is actively engaged in national and international scientific initiatives.

Professor Tkemaladze holds the following positions and memberships:

Member of the Board of Directors of the Undiagnosed Diseases Network International (UDNI);

Council Member of the European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG);

Member of the Spina Bifida Sequencing Consortium and SATB2 Europe;

Georgia’s representative at the Clinical Genetics Expert Center;

Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of FDNA;

Member of the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS);

Member of the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO);

Member of the European Paediatric Neurology Society (EPNS);

Member of the European Cytogeneticists Association (ECA);

Founder and General Secretary of the Georgian Society of Medical Genetics and Epigenetics (GSMGE).

An article authored by Professor Tinatin Tkemaladze entitled “Mining the Diagnosis of Rare Disease with Limited Resources” was published in the prestigious international scientific journal Nature Genetics, in the World View section (Impact Factor – 31.7).
