TSMU delegation’s visit to Erasmus University Rotterdam

Professor Irma Manjavidze, Head of the Clinical Skills and Multidisciplinary Simulation Centre, Nino Kandelaki, Erasmus+ Institutional Coordinator and Salome Voronovi Deputy Head of the Faculty Development and Strategic Planning Department visited Erasmus University Rotterdam (the Netherlands) from 23 to 27 February 2026 within the framework of the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility Project.  The TSMU representatives met with counterparts from the Erasmus University Medical Center. Discussions focused on the specific features of educational programmes and the integration of the BLS/ABCDE methodology into the teaching and learning process. The delegation also toured the Sophia Children’s Hospital, the simulation-based education center, and the innovation lab. Additional meetings were held with representatives of the Erasmus Academy. The parties reviewed best practices in the implementation and development of simulation-based education and discussed mechanisms for training and upskilling instructors. As an outcome of these discussions, a follow-up visit of partner university representatives to Tbilisi State Medical University was scheduled for June 2026, during which specialized training sessions in communication and simulation-based education will be delivered.

The TSMU delegation also participated in a training session conducted by Martin Bosman, focusing on the application and advantages of virtual reality (VR) technologies in simulation-based learning. Meetings were also held with representatives of the International Relations Office and the Education Sector Manager at Erasmus University Rotterdam, where future cooperation prospects and opportunities for joint educational projects were discussed.
