TSMU Associate Professor Ketevan Kankava Participated in an International Intensive Course in Neuropathology

Associate Professor Ketevan Kankava, Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics of Tbilisi State Medical University participated in an International Intensive Course in Neuropathology held in Agria, Volos, Greece. The course program focused on contemporary developments in neuropathology and was delivered by internationally recognized experts in the field. Attention was given to diagnostic approaches for brain tumors in neuro-oncology, current classification criteria, and the supportive technologies used in the diagnostic process.

A significant component of the course addressed the role of molecular genetic methods in the accurate diagnosis of neuro-oncological diseases. Participants discussed the fact that these advanced technologies are predominantly available within healthcare systems of economically developed countries. Consequently, dedicated sessions were organized to explore alternative diagnostic algorithms and their practical application in resource-limited settings.

During the intensive course, TSMU Associate Professor met with European colleagues and leading specialists in neuropathology. The meetings provided an opportunity to discuss prospects for future professional and academic collaboration, fostering the exchange of expertise and contributing to the advancement of contemporary medical approaches and diagnostic practices.
