Professor Tamar Sanikidze, Head of the Department of Physics, Biophysics, Biomechanics, and Information Technologies of Tbilisi State Medical University delivered lectures at the Medical University of Pleven (Bulgaria) from May 18 to 22, 2026, within the framework of the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Program. The lectures and practical sessions were conducted by Professor Tamar Sanikidze and TSMU invited lecturer, Doctor of Medicine Maka Buleishvili, for international and Bulgarian students enrolled in English-language programs.
The educational courses covered several important topics:
• The physical foundations of medical imaging (radiation physics);
• The physical principles and specific characteristics of interactions between various types of ionizing radiation (electromagnetic and particulate) and living matter.
As part of the visit, introductory and working meetings were held with representatives of the Department of Medical Physics, Biophysics, Preclinical and Clinical Sciences at the Medical University of Pleven. During these meetings, the parties discussed opportunities for future collaboration, explored avenues for the development of joint academic and professional activities, and outlined plans for continued cooperation.
The academic mobility was carried out within the Department of Medical Physics, Biophysics, Preclinical and Clinical Sciences of the Medical University of Pleven and aimed to promote the exchange of educational experience, strengthen international academic cooperation, and expand professional networks.
