Tbilisi State Medical University, as the representative of the ECHO Georgia Hub, has successfully completed its first educational programme based on the ECHO Model. The programme’s concluding conference was held at TSMU on May 29, 2026 in a hybrid format, bringing together Georgian and international partners from the United States and India.

The conference provided an opportunity to review the activities and outcomes of the six-session programme. Participants shared their feedback on the programme’s contribution to professional development, practical knowledge, and clinical practice, while the programme facilitator presented an overall analysis of its implementation and results.

The event concluded with certificates being awarded to participants and acknowledgements to international partners for their active engagement and support.

The first ECHO Georgia Hub programme was implemented with the support and direct involvement of TSMU’s American MD Programme and focused on nutritional management of Type 1 diabetes in paediatric practice, providing a platform for sharing current approaches and practical experience.

The programme brought together TSMU academic and administrative staff, paediatric endocrinologists from Tbilisi and different regions of Georgia, nutritionists, paediatricians, psychologists, students, residents, practicing physicians, and patients, with the participation of coordinators from the U.S.-based ECHO project.

Since 2025, TSMU has served as a partner organization of the University of New Mexico’s ECHO Model through ECHO Georgia Hub, providing a foundation for the continued development of ECHO-based educational and professional initiatives at TSMU.
