Young Scientists Week – “Young Scientists for a Better Future of the Planet” – has officially opened at Tbilisi State Medical University. The event is traditionally organized annually by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia.

The opening event, a conference - “Healthy Lifestyle,” was opened by Professor Sophia Bakhtadze TSMU Vice-Rector. Participants, including school pupils, students, and young researchers, were welcomed by Zviad Gabisonia, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia

The conference featured lectures by distinguished TSMU academics:

Professor Lela Maskhulia – “The Impact of Low Physical Activity on Health”

As part of the event, one group of school pupils visited the Life Sciences Museum at the TSMU Department of Genetics, where they explored a variety of exhibits and educational displays. Another group participated in a hands-on training session at the TSMU Center for Scientific Skills - “Fun Laboratory and Experimental Research on Laboratory Rats.”

During the training, the Director of the Center for Scientific Skills, Professor Luiza Gabunia, introduced participants to the objectives and significance of experimental laboratory research in biomedical sciences and clinical practice.

The event provided young participants with an engaging opportunity to expand their scientific knowledge, gain practical experience, and learn about the role of research in improving human health and well-being.
