Tbilisi State Medical University hosted
a meeting of the Council of Rectors, chaired by Givi Mikanadze, Minister of
Education, Science and Youth of Georgia. The meeting brought together rectors
and representatives of public and private higher education institutions across
Georgia. Zviad Gabisonia, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth, also
participated in the meeting.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs
Aleksandre Darakhvelidze presented a package of legislative amendments
concerning the admission of international students to Georgian higher education
institutions and related aspects of the educational process. The Council also
discussed ongoing developments within higher education reform, reviewed
progress achieved to date, and considered approaches to addressing existing
challenges.
The meeting was held in a discussion-based format, enabling
Council members to exchange views and reach joint decisions on a number of
issues concerning the development of higher education in Georgia.
