A three-day international training “AI Bootcamp for Proposal Writing: AI Tools for Grant Preparation, Proposal Writing and Research Communication” was held at Tbilisi State Medical University. The training was dedicated to the application of modern artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the processes of grant proposal development and research communication.
The training was officially opened by Professor Irakli Natroshvili, Rector of TSMU. Professor Irakli Natroshvili emphasized the importance of artificial intelligence in contemporary research and educational processes.
The audience was also addressed by Levan Khetsuriani, Head of the Georgian National Office of Horizon Europe, also highlighting the importance of active engagement of Georgian academic and research institutions in the European Union’s research and innovation programme.
The three-day training was led by international expert Avi Staiman, Founder and CEO of Academic Language Experts. He is a globally recognized specialist in academic communication, research writing, grant proposal development, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence tools in research. According to Academic Language Experts, Avi Staiman has trained more than 30,000 researchers in the use of AI technologies. He is also the co-founder of the platform SciWriter.ai, which promotes the ethical and effective use of artificial intelligence in academic writing.
The training covered the following key areas:
• Generation and development of research ideas
• Identification of relevant grant calls and funding opportunities
• Structuring and preparation of project proposals
• Evaluation and improvement of grant application texts
• Grant strategy development, research analytics, and institutional planning
• Productivity-enhancing tools, process automation, and development of customized AI assistants
• Use of AI in research communication, dissemination of results, and preparation of visual materials
• Recent updates in funders and the European Commission’s policies regarding the use of AI
The event brought together participants involved in the preparation and administration of international research projects and grant applications, including those under the EU research and innovation programme Horizon Europe.
The training series, conducted in a hybrid format at TSMU on June22–24, was organized by the Horizon Europe Georgia National Office.
