One month into the academic year, Professor Irakli Natroshvili, Tbilisi State Medical University Rector, met with first-semester students to hear their initial experiences, address their questions and concerns and foster open dialogue on their academic needs and university life. During the meeting, students were invited to share their experiences, discuss their needs and raise questions on matters of interest to them, with answers provided directly by the Rector and university representatives.
The questions and comments primarily concerned student exchange programmes, scholarships, internal mobility, the teaching and learning process, and university life more broadly. The meeting was held in an open-dialogue format, fostering direct communication between students and the university administration.
An important topic of discussion was the financing of higher education in the context of ongoing higher education reform. Professor Irakli Natroshvili provided a detailed explanation of the requirements students must meet to retain state funding.
The Rector also introduced students to various aspects of TSMU’s academic and institutional activities, including the teaching and learning process and its educational, cultural, and extracurricular initiatives. He also outlined the completed and ongoing infrastructure projects of the university.
The meeting was attended by the TSMU Chancellor, Vice-Rectors, the Head of the Quality Assurance Office, Deans, and members of the University’s academic and administrative staff.
