On October 12-16, 2024, the XVI International Conference on "Health and Ecology" was held in Santa Margherita-Portofino, Italy. This year's theme focused on "Global Warming, Climate Change, and the Medical-Ecological Challenges of Food Security." The event was opened by conference speaker, Associate Professor Marina Giorgobiani, Department of Hygiene and Medical Ecology of TSMU. The conference participants were welcomed by Professor Khatuna Todadze, Head of the TSMU Quality Assurance Service, Professor Rima Beriashvili, Head of the Department of Pathological Anatomy, Professor Nana Gorgaslidze, Head of the Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy and Professor Ramaz Kurasvili, Director of the National Center for Diabetes Research.
The presentations were delivered by Professor Avtandil Kochlamazashvili, a member of the Georgian Academy of Preventive Medicine Sciences, TSMU Associate Professor David Tskhomelidze, Professor Marina Nikolaishvili, Head of the Radiobiology Department at the Ivane Beritashvili Scientific-Research Center, Professor Rusudan Beriashvili, Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine of TSMU, Professor Ramaz Kurashvili, Professor Nana Gorgaslidze, Associate Professor Marina Giorgobiani and Assistant Professors Tamar Darsania and Natalia Garuchava. Notably, TSMU students were actively involved in the conference proceedings.
The event was organized by the Faculty of Public Health of Tbilisi State Medical University, the Academy of Preventive Medicine Sciences and the Medical Ecology Association.
