Professor Rusudan Beriashvili’s visit to Morocco

From October 5 to 10, Professor Rusudan Beriashvili, Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical University, conducted a training of trainers in Morocco for forensic medical experts, prosecutors and judges, upon the invitation of the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance. The training was based on the Istanbul Protocol and focused on the new edition of the “Istanbul Protocol” and the Istanbul Principles, aiming to ensure the effective investigation and documentation of cases involving torture, inhuman and degrading treatment and prevention. During the meeting, participants discussed the existing human rights challenges in Morocco, as well as the progress achieved in this field. The session also outlined the main directions for future work and resulted in the development of an action plan.

The training was conducted with the support of the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance and in close cooperation with the Office of the Prosecutor General of Morocco.
