The rules below are for the affiliation of academic staff at Tbilisi State Medical University:
1. These rules govern the affiliation of academic staff at Tbilisi State Medical University (hereinafter referred to as TSMU) and establish the academic staff's and university's rights and duties regarding affiliation.
2. Affiliation - for this rule, a written agreement (affiliation agreement) between the State Medical University of Tbilisi-Tbilisi and a person with an academic position, by which each person with an academic position determines his affiliation only with TSMU, participates in the development and knowledge of society on behalf of TSMU In the process of sharing and:
2.1. Engage in essential educational and research/scientific activities at TSMU, with the results of their research being acknowledged by TSMU;
2.2. Actively contribute to decision-making processes regarding educational, research, and other significant matters at TSMU;
2.3. Actively engage in providing counseling and academic/scientific guidance to students.
2. (1) Affiliated academic staff have the right to request from the university:
2.(1) 1. Support for conducting scientific research activities;
2.(1) 2. Financial support for the publication of educational materials, monographs, methodical guides, or research papers prepared on behalf of TSMU;
2(1).3. Participation in international conferences, seminars, etc. on behalf of TSMU. (23/5; 21.02.2024)
3. When applying for an academic position at the university, the candidate must express their intention to affiliate with TSMU in advance. If selected for the position, they must confirm their commitment by signing the contract and completing the appropriate consent form (Appendix 1).
4. If an individual currently holds an academic position at another higher education institution, their employment contract will be terminated upon accepting a position at TSMU, unless the Academic Council decides to make an exception to this rule (05.02.2019; 23/1;).
5. The provisions of paragraph 4 of this rule do not apply to academic staff affiliated with another higher educational institution before the implementation of this rule, except for professors elected for life.
6. An academic staff member at TSMU who has academic or study commitments at another educational institution must provide information about their academic workload before the start of each academic year. This includes supervision of master's and Ph.D. students. Additionally, if there are any changes in workload that result in an increase, this information must be provided within one week of the change.
8. This rule shall come into effect upon approval.
Transitional Provisions
7. Affiliation agreements with TSMU academic staff must be signed by December 1, 2017.

Affiliation Agreement

State Medical University - Tbilisi State Medical University (hereinafter "Employer"), represented by the Rector, Professor Irakli Natroshvili, on the one hand, and (hereinafter "Employee") on the other hand, agree to the following:
1. The Employee agrees to become an affiliated employee of Tbilisi State Medical University and undertakes to participate in community development and knowledge sharing on behalf of Tbilisi State Medical University.
a) To engage in basic educational and scientific research activities and to share the results of the research with Tbilisi State Medical University.
b) To actively participate in decision-making processes regarding education, research, and other important matters at Tbilisi State Medical University.
c) To be actively involved in academic and scientific guidance, and to provide consultations for students.
2. If this agreement is not fulfilled, or if it is improperly fulfilled, the employee is required to leave the academic position.
