Regulations for the Research Productivity Assessment of Academic and Scientific Personnel
The rationale forassessing the productivity of academic and scientific personnel is to stimulate the research potential of academic and scientific personnel of Tbilisi State Medical University, to integrate them into the international scientific community, to develop the modern research infrastructure, to prepare the next generations of researchers, and to strengthen the quality and significance of research activities both at the regional and international levels.
Research productivity assessment of academic and scientific personnel is carried out through the self- evaluation using a specially designed questionnaire, which takes into account the following components of research activities:
• Articles published in peer-reviewed scientific journals with an impact factor
• Articles published in international peer-reviewed journals
• Articles published in local peer-reviewed journals
• Monographs/books
• Chapter in a book/proceedings (international publication)
• Chapter in a book/proceedings (local publication)
• Participation in international scientific conferences/congresses/symposiums
• Participation in national scientific conferences
• Publication in the proceedings of international scientific conferences/congresses/symposiums
• Participation in national scientific conferences
• Intellectual property objects (inventions, patents)
• Supervision of grant funded research
• Participation in the grant-funded research
• Submission of research proposals for grant funding
• Participation in international randomized clinical trials
• Participation in national clinical trials
• Supervision of master's thesis
• Supervision of doctoral dissertation (for active doctoral students)
• Membership of the editorial board of an international refereed journal
• Membership in the editorial board of a local refereed journal
• Reviewing international publications
• Providing expert’svaluation of research projects
• Indicators of scientific productivity (c,h index).
2. The assessment questionnaire is developed by the Department of Quality Assurance, together with the Department of Research Coordination, Master and PhD programs through consulting with the academic and scientific personnel.
3. The Department of Quality Assurance prepares the reportof the analysis of the results from theassessment questionnaire,and in collaboration with the Department of Research Coordination, Master and PhD programs creates a plan for the development of research activitiesamong academic and scientific personnel.
4. The indicators of scientific productivity of academic and scientific personnel will be posted on a bilingual (Georgian and English) electronic portal by the Department of Research Coordination, Master and PhD programs.
5. The analyses of assessment results will be used for the planning and subsequent improvement of research activities within the university.
6. The questionnaire forthe research productivity assessment of academic and scientific personnelwill be created by October 1, 2018. The first evaluation cycle will begin from the academic year 2019/20.
