The Structure and Content of Master program
(Short description) |
The program is designed using the methodology of planning and
developing educational programs at TSMU. The program’s content
fully covers the requirements for admission and learning outcomes. The
educational program includes teaching plan and appropriate Syllabuses. Program
contains mandatory and
elective courses, (in details
see below). From 120 credits 114 are mandatory, 6 elective courseს. During
the entire period of study, the student chooses 3 courses from 8 different elective syllabuses. |
Aims of the Educational Program |
The Aim of the master's program in pediatric rehabilitation is to train personnel who will be equipped with the knowledge and up-to-date professional skills necessary for the medical rehabilitation of children so that they can: improve functional status of children and adolescents with disabilities, improve their quality of life, as well as train qualified specialists for rehabilitation, sports and medical centers based on national and international professional experience. |
Requirements/Prerequisites to the Program |
Master Degree
Program requirements are the following: Bachelor’s degree
in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of TSMUBachelor’s degree in abovementioned or neighboring specialties of other higher
education institutions of Georgia · Bachelor’s degree in similar or neighboring specialties of foreign countries · Completion of required minimum
of master's examination · Proficiency in Foreign Language (B2 Level) and TSMU internal specialty test/exam |

Effective written and oral communication, receiving and giving information in an appropriate
format; Communication during professional and research activities. can: 1.
Assess the growth
and development of the child
and conduct medical
follow-up; 2.
In accordance with the knowledge gained, perform various
rehabilitation procedures (massage, physiotherapy procedures,
physical therapy courses, restorative procedures, etc.); 3.
Work in a multidisciplinary group
together with a pediatrician,
children's neuropathologist, psychologist and different medical specialists);
In each specific case, the master can formulate the main problem, carry out
activities in a coordinated manner with the members of the group; 4.
Establish a relationship with the patient, the patient's parent and colleagues; 5.
Use the scientific principles of biomedicine in daily medical practice and research; 6.
Establish contact with the patient, parents and family members of the
patient, can provide them with information about the condition of the child,
about the rehabilitation facilities in the institution, the procedure for their use and the expected results; 7.
Purposefully ask questions to the patient/parent, show maximum empathy and desire to help, give
advice and recommendations
both orally and in writing; 8.
Provide information to the patient/parent about the social assistance and benefits
determined by the state; 3.Responsibility and autonomy General transferable competences 1. Full use of educational
and informational resources, obtaining information from various sources,
conducting studies independently, familiarization with
the features of the educational process and strategic
planning. Conducting negotiations in
a professional context and participating in conflict resolution, considering the principles of justice and tolerance. Can: 1.
Determine the need, forms and methods of rehabilitation; 2.
Determine the duration of rehabilitation procedures for a child with disabilities; 3.
Use educational and
informational resources in the educational process, work in the
library, knows how to search
for materials on electronic
media; 4.
Process and critically evaluate the searched literature and write an abstract, prepare a literature
review, analyze the results of various studies; 5.
Protect the rights
of the disabled patient based on the
knowledge of ethical and legal principles; Conduct negotiations on receiving social
assistance and benefits. |
