Rules for conducting final examinations at Tbilisi State Medical University in the spring semester of 2019-2020 academic year


1. Tbilisi State Medical University will conduct final examinations in the spring semester of 2019-2020 academic year remotely, except for the cases prescribed in the second paragraph of this rule.

2. Students of the XII semester of the Faculty of Medicine, X semester of the Faculty of Stomatology, VIII semester of the Faculty of Pharmacy, VIII semester of the Faculty of Public Health will pass final exams at the Examinations and Skills Assessment Center of TSMU in accordance with the rules approved by the Academic Council of TSMU.

3. All exams (without exception) will be passed remotely by:

a) The students of International Faculty of Medicine and Stomatology and US MD Program of the Faculty of Medicine;

b) The students of the foreign language-instructed educational programs of the Faculties of Pharmacy and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation  

c) The students outside of Georgia

d) Self-isolating and quarantined students due to the COVID-19 pandemic

4. At conducting the remote final exams, the both tests and oral examinations can be used.

a) At remote oral final exam, the examining committee shall include at least 2 members from the academic staff of the Department. A student is required to answer the questions on material included in the relevant syllabus, the examiner(s) has asked. According to the examination discipline the number of questions is 4-5 (each question will be worth of 10 or 8 points, respectively); If the student objects to the assessment, the examiner is entrusted the power to ask additional questions. Student’s responding to the survey should take no more than 20 minutes, after which the student is notified of his/her final exam grade.

b) The exam will be held remotely in a test form in accordance with the "Rule for Conducting the Examination” (examination procedures) at the Examination and Skills Assessment Center of Tbilisi State Medical University". Upon obtaining the final exam assessment scores, in case of a claim, the student is required to appeal the results immediately. The student shall receive respond to the appeal in accordance with the rules established by TSMU - within 24 hours after filing the appeal.

5. The student is required to appeal the results of the exam, held at the Examination and Skills Assessment Center of TSMU, in accordance with the established rules.

6. In case of experiencing an internet-related issue with remote test type exams, the student should apply to the contact person assigned to deal with these problems.

7. If the student experiences an issue with the same study course (at passing the basic or extra exams), the University will have the right to require him/her to take the exam within the university space. If the students outside of Georgia, self-isolating or quarantined students experience a technical issue with the exam, they will be required to pass remote oral exam, in commission mode.

8. In the cases described under paragraph 7, the assessment scores obtained by the student experiencing technical issue with the exam will be declared invalid. If the student does not use the opportunity specified in paragraph 7, assessment scores for the test exam with technical issues will remain in force.

9. For the students those, physically presented in Georgia, with no access to the remote form of the final exams, the University will ensure passing the exam within the university space according to the schedule specially designed for them.

10. Students defined under the paragraph 9 (to whom a remote examination form is not available) should apply to the Dean’s Office of the relevant Faculty no later than June 12, 2020 (inclusive).
