Joint Board Meeting of the Faculty of Medicine and Stomatology

On September 18, 2013 Joint Board Meeting of the Faculty of Medicine and Stomatology was held in the Dissertation Hall of Tbilisi State Medical University, which was devoted to implementation of Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) for the fourth year students in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

The meeting was attended by Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University, Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria, Vice-Rector, Professor Davit Chavchanidze, Deputy Rector, Professor Rima Beriashvili, Chancellor, Zurab Orjonikidze, Professor of Leeds Institute of Medical Education (Great Britain), Academic and Administrative Staff of the Faculty of Medicine and Stomatology.

Joint Board Meeting of the Faculty of Medicine and Stomatology was opened by Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Tinatin Chikovani and Dean of the Faculty of Stomatology, Samson Mghebrishvili. They talked about the importance of the Objective Structured Clinical Examination to train medical students in communication skills.

The presentation “Objective Structured Clinical Examination in Stomatology” was made by Head of the Odontology Department, Professor Marina Mamaladze. It should be mentioned that Department of Odontology is the one of those departments at TSMU, where Objective Structured Clinical Examination has been successfully implemented. Professor Marina Mamaladze shared her experience of Objective Structured Clinical Examination with the audience. She also talked about the importance of the exam, priorities and challenges of it.

Professor of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Nikoloz Kintraia made a presentation – “Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) on the fourth year of the Faculty of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (plans and perspective)”. At the end of the meeting, the initiative to start Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) on the fourth year of the Faculty of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology was approved and positively evaluated by the board.
