On October 1, 2013 Deputy Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University, Professor Giorgi Abesadze  met with  the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka to Turkey and Georgia, Bharathi Wijeratne at Tblilisi State Medical University.

The meeting was attended by Head of International Relations Department, Professor Ia Avaliani, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Tinatin Chikovani, Head of the Overseas Student Education, Professor Giorgi Giorgobiani, Deputy Head, Professor Davit Topuria and Chief Specialist, Professor Levan Benashvili.

They talked about the relations between Georgia and Sri Lanka, Tbilisi State Medical University priorities, TSMU English medium and study programs.

At the end of the visit, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka to Turkey and Georgia, Bharathi Wijeratne met with and talked to the Students from Sri Lanka studying at Tbilisi State Medical University.
