Delegation of Medical Council of India visited to Tbilisi State Medical University

On October 18 – 20, 2013 Delegation of Medical Council of India visited to Tbilisi State Medical University. The delegation was consisted of Director General, Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of India, Head of the Delegation, Dr. Vishwas Mehta, Chairman of Medical Council of India, Dr. R.K. Srivastava, Member of the Governing body of Medical Council of India, Dr.Raja Babu Panwar and First Secretary at Indian Embassy Mr. Pankaj Saxena.

From Georgian side the meeting was attended by Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University, Professor Zurab Vadachkoria, Vice-Rector, Professor Kakhaber Chelidze, Deputy Rector, Professor Rima Beriashvili, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Tinatin Chikovani, Head of TSMU Department of Students Registration, Curriculum Evaluation and Management, Professor Rusudan Rukhadze, Head of the Overseas Student Education, Professor Giorgi Giorgobiani, Deputy Head, Professor Davit Topuria and Chief Specialist, Professor Levan Benashvili, Head of the International Relations Department, Professor Ia Avaliani and Deputy Head, Irina Kapetivadze.

On the meeting they talked the collaboration in education between Georgia and India, priorities, English medium and educational programs of Tbilisi State Medical University.

In the frames of the visit the delegation visited to the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, where they discussed the issues related to the status of international students at Tbilisi State Medical University.

Delegation members visited to TSMU clinical bases: High Technology Medical Center, University Clinic, Givi Zhvania Pediatric Academic Clinic, where they were introduced to clinical activities of the medical students and residents.

   

During the visit Indian colleagues visited to TSMU Clinical Skills Center, which they liked with its new programs and technologies implemented in the center. The Delegation also visited to the TSMU Library to see updated medical textbooks and electronic recourses of the library.

     
     
   

At the end of the visit members of the Delegation of Medical Council of India met with the students of English medium of Tbilisi State Medical University.
