On November 6 - 8, 2013 Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University, Professor Zurab Vadachkoria and Deputy Rector, Professor Rima Beriashvili paid an official visit to Budapest, Hungary, where the 1st Central and Eastern European Regional Meeting of the Association of Academic Health Centers International (AAHCI) was held.

The meeting orginizers were Semmelweis University (Hungary) and the Association of Academic Health Centers International (AAHCI).

The meeting was devoted to the issues about the collaboration development between universities and university clinics and the joint projects in medical education, clinical care and scientific research. Relatively, the conference had the strategic importance for Tbilisi State Medical University.

The follwoing themes were disscused at the meeting: Biomedical Scientific Research Policy in Higher Medical Education, Cross-Border Scientific Researches–the Perspectives of the International Networking, the Digital Future and Personalized Medicine, the Diagnostics and Treatment Challenges of Rare Diseases etc.
