Pilot Summer Internship Program has been completed at Tbilisi State Medical University

On November 25, 2013 during academic board meeting, Deputy Rector Giorgi Abesadze made the presentation about Pilot Summer Internship Program at Tbilisi State Medical University.

The working groups were created to implement the Pilot Summer Internship Program. The working groups found out the number of the students of the Faculty of Medicine, Stomatology, Pharmacy and Public Health who wanted to participate in the Pilot Summer Internship Program.

Relative clinical bases, pharmaceutical and insurance companies were selected for Pilot Summer Internship Program. Heads of capacities were asked to support the program. Deputy Rector visited the selected clinical bases in the regions.

The daily evaluation forms, basic principles and fields of the internship were created by the working group. The following fields were selected: Therapy, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Pediatrics - for Faculty of Medicine, Therapeutic Stomatology, Surgical Stomatology, Orthopedic Dentistry and Orthodonty - for the Faculty of Stomatology, Healthcare Management, Environmental Health and Epidemiology – for the Faculty of Public Heath and Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutical Technology and Pharmacotherapy – for the Faculty of Pharmacy.

6 Stomatologic Clinics, 3 Insurance Companies, 3 Pharmaceutical Companies, 2 Hospital Networks, 2 Regional Health Care Centers, Tbilisi Emergency Medical Center and L. Sakvarelidze National Center for Disease Control and Public Health were involved in the project.

From July 27 to August 12, 2013 Tbilisi State Medical University 363 students participated in the Pilot Summer Internship Program.

After the successful accomplishment of the project Deputy Rector of TSMU awarded participant students by certificates.

Some of the university clinics’ contribution to Pilot Summer Internship Program was highlighted during academic board meeting. Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University, Professor Zurab Vadachkoria awarded directors of supporting clinics by Certificates of Appreciation.
