Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Week

On December 3 – 7, 2013 Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Student Society and Student Government of Tbilisi State Medical University organized the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Week.

On December 3 – 4 the 1st Student Scientific Conference of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation was held, where the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students participated in.

The following presentations were made in the conference:
“Coxarthrosis” – Malvina Fartenadze, Ani Gulverdashvili, Tiko Enukidze
“Solitary Bone Cyst” – Ana Pichkhulashvili, Irakli Chiokadze, Ana Burjanadze, Nato Panchulidze
“Post-Stroke Rehabilitation” – Nino Beridze, Mariam Maisuradze, Mariam Mantidze, Tamar Narindoshvili, Salome Tkeshelashvili, Aleksandre Gulashvili, Nino Alkhazanishvili
“Rehabilitation after right knee scar contractures” – Khatia Sakhamberidze, Giorgi Tsitskishvili
“Rehabilitation after rotator cuff injury” – Giorgi Makhviladze, Nino Gabadze,  Tamta Barbakadze, Vardo Goginashvili, Mamuka Galdava, Lasha Ghonghadze.

The presentation were evaluated by the jury which was consisted of: Director of the Clinical Center of Sport Medicine and Rehabilitation Valeri Akhalkatsi, Doctor of the Clinical Center of Sport Medicine and Rehabilitation Tamar Chutkerashvili, Professor of Physical Medicine Course of Rehabilitation Department Marina Matiashvili, Professor of Physiology and Biochemistry Course Manana Rukhadze, Professor of Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics Tamaz Katsitadze, Professor of Physiology Department Giorgi Chichinadze and Coordinator of Professional Educational Programs Medea Jgharkava.

The presentation “Solitary Bone Cyst” was announced as the best presentation.

On December 5 Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Student Society attended the presentation of Georgian Association of Cardio-Vascular Prevention and Rehabilitation. It is planned to collaborate with this organization in the future.

On December 6 in the frames of the event, a video-tele-conference was organized between the students of the Faculty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of Tbilisi State Medical University and the University of Scranton (USA). American students presented the clinical case –“Lite Gait System Using in Recurrent Stroke Rehabilitation”.
