Tbilisi State Medical University has a number of successful students. Hence, Professor Nodar Grigolia scholarship will be awarded to the best among the best.  George Grigolia, his son, expressed desire to establish this scholarship. According to Professor Tina Chikovani, Dean of TSMU Faculty of Medicine, a candidate for this new scholarship was chosen with great care. He was supposed to be a highly rated student who will work as a surgeon.

The selection was started from the top-rated students and the first who turned was Iveri Lagvilava. He fully met the requirements for Professor Nodar Grigolia scholarship candidates.

Iveri lagvilava wa born in the village Dim, graduated from Dim secondary school and in 2008 was enrolled on the Faculty of Medicine at Kutaisi Akaki Tsereteli University.

In 2010 he was transferred through mobility to TSMU Faculty of Medicine (third year) and from the very beginning was marked by good teaching and academic progress. Today, by rating he is the first of all sixth year students. That is why he became the first scholarship winner named after Nodar Grigolia.

The appropriate certificate was handed to Iveri Lagvilava by Professor Kakhaber Chelidze,  Vice-Rector  of Tbilisi State Medical University. As he noted, Iveri Lagvilava has the most special feature – striving for knowledge and victory - and therefore he really will be the winner throughout his life.  “I'm honored that you stand here and really deserve the scholarship which is connected with the name of this great man" - said Vice-Rector to the graduate student.
