On March 24, World Tuberculosis (TB) Day, organized by TSMU students’ self-governmental body, Student pharmacists Association, I. Tarkhnishvili Students' Scientific Society and NGO "Arsiani", was held at Tbilisi State Medical University.
TB is considered as one of the most common diseases in the world; according to statistics, every year 9 million people suffer from these diseases, 3 million of them remain without medical care and life-saving of 2 million is not possible. The most important is early detection and proper treatment of tuberculosis.
In the problems of Tuberculosis should be interested the whole society, but, future doctors feel an increased responsibility in this regard. Therefore, 24 March was marked in two directions: on the one hand, expressed support for the patients and on the other hand , participated in the conference on tuberculosis to increase their competency.
Flyers, containing information about the prevention and treatment of tuberculosis were distributed on the territory of TSMU. For more visual effect, flash mob of live chain was arranged by the students in TSMU yard, each of them declared their solidarity to TB patients. The conference caused a great interest.
The students discussed information on spread, prevention and treatment of tuberculosis in details. The event was attended by Prof. Tamaz Chumburidze, who explained the issues concerning to TB to the students. The event ended with the symbolic launching of sky shining kites.
