Lecture by Professor Thomas Rash for the students of Tbilisi State Medical University

 

On 27 March 2014 , Prof. Thomas Rash,  Emory University Professor, delivered lecture  for the students of American program for certified medical doctors at  Tbilisi State Medical University. The topic of the lecture concerned to National Center for Disease Control (CDC), the US,  National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC) of Georgia, their significance and working principles, as well as  the whole public health system in general.

Prof. Thomas Rash represents the United States’ National Centre for Disease Control (CDC) and he has been working in Georgia for five years already. He supervises and guides a training program on preparation and development of laboratory quality control and of quality management system in Georgia. Students expressed a great interest in the lecture delivered by such highly-experienced Professor as Prof. Thomas Rash. The students were deeply acquainted with the role of public health system in the country life, the function of National Center for Disease Control and place of every physician in this system. According to Professor Archil Undilashvili, Professor of Public Health at Emory University, it is really very important information for the students. As you know, future doctors are studying at medical university. It is important to involve them in the public health system. In future they should take the responsibility for protection of Georgian population health; therefore, it is necessary to consider carefully their roles as a future practicing physicians in the public health system. This is the purpose for which the competent guests from different fields are invited to speak with our students. So, we give them the best opportunity to get necessary information and advices for their future work from highly-qualified  specialists.
