The Report of Prof. Babill Stray Pederson, an International Adviser for U.S. Agency for International Development USAID Project - “Maintenance”, on Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE) Results Conducted for the Students of TSMU Faculty of Medicine

Within the frames of collaboration developed between Tbilisi State Medical University and Oslo University and the USAID Project - “Maintenance”, Prof. Babill Stray Pederson, provided recommendations and support for organization and arrangement of Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE) in Obstetrics and Gynecology for the IV year Students of TSMU Faculty of Medicine, which was held on the basis of close cooperation with Professor Tinatin Chikovani Dean of TSMU Faculty of Medicine, Professor Irma Manjavidze Director of the Centre of Clinical Skills and  Professor Nurki Kintraia Head of TSMU Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

At preparation of Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE) in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Prof. Babill Stray Pederson, provided effective recommendations, relating to realization of arrangement of stations, monitoring, assessment and feedback.

It should be noted that Nino Berdzuli, Director of the U.S. Agency for International Development  USAID Project - “Maintenance” and Nonp Lomia, Technical Expert for Undergraduate Medical Education of the same project helped Tbilisi State Medical University in organization of stations and purchasing of additional simulation models of obstetrics and gynecology.  The exam was held on 10 and 11 February 2014. 276 students were assessed. OSCE   provided an opportunity to assess the theoretical knowledge, clinical and communication skills in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

According to the report of Prof. Babill Stray Pederson “ Only two students did not pass the exam. Thus, the objective structured clinical exam was held successfully. This is a great success stipulated with the efforts made by Dean of TSMU Faculty of Medicine, Director of the Centre of Clinical Skills and Head of TSMU Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Consequently they deserved thanks and I, as a participant of this impressive exam, would like to express my thankfulness to you. Everything went perfectly. Congratulations! "”
