The Course of Postgraduate Clinical Skills for Nurses on Nurse Activities

For Tbilisi State Medical University it is important that all doctors and nurses at any University clinic to be trained to the highest level. This is the goal of 20 days training on Postgraduate Clinical Skills for nurses established at TSMU Center of Clinical Skills. University clinics are also interested in successful implementation of this program.  By support of Prof. Lia Dzidziguri General Director of Givi Zhvania Pediatric Academic Clinic and Nana Datiashvili Director of the Clinic for Organizational Affairs, at present, the acting nurses of Givi Zhvania Pediatric Academic Clinic passed the training course of Postgraduate Clinical Skills.  After completing the course, they have passed the exam in clinical skills at TSMU Center of Clinical Skills after which they will be awarded with certificates.  The exam was attended by: Professor Rima Beriashvili TSMU Vice - Rector, Professor Irma Manjavidze Director of the Center, examiners:  Nino Tezelashvili, Nino Puturidze and Nana Jikidze. Before the exam, participants were welcomed by Professor Rima Beriashvili, she focused on the great responsibility of nursing profession. The quality of medical services largely depends on the quality and professionalism of the nurses.

According to Medea Jgarkava, TSMU Coordinator of Professional Educational Programs, the project was started recently. These nurses were given the opportunity to take a free 20 -day course of postgraduate clinical skills in nursing. They are good professionals, but we were able to hold the course interesting for them and developing their professionalism. We discussed new approaches  and provided new information on  specific clinical skills. Today is the last day of the exam, which will eventually allow us to confirm training cpurse results and award appropriate certificates.

According to Professor Irma Manjavidze Director of the Center of Clinical Skills, at the Center the training of nurses was conducted for the first time. Trainings for medical staff of all University Clinics  is planned to carry out on the base of the Center as well. “We are very pleased to host such an important event. All of our teachers feel high responsibility for this, because the nurses determine the quality of medical services. The University will ensure that the nurses of all University Clinics undergo accredited training programs. In future, we plan to arrange training in separate specializations ..., for example the staff of pediatric and neonatology Departments” . The nurses were very satisfied with the courses. According to Irine Begliants a lot of things were new and interesting for her. As Natia Mamishashvili said, at TSMU Center of Clinical Skills she was mastered in practical skills that will help her to avoid making a lot of mistakes.
