Forum - ”Doctor - Patient Relationship - Rights and Obligations

 

On July 28-31, 2014 the  Forum  on  ”Doctor - Patient Relationship - Rights and Obligations " organized by the Organization “Public Opinion” and support of TSMU Students Self-Governing Body was held in Batumi. In the event participated: George Abesadze, Vice-Rector of TSMU, academic staff and students of TSMU and Tbilisi Medical Academy, Mr. Levan Gorgiladze Deputy Minister of Health of Ajara Autonomous Republic, Pharmaceutical Students Association, St. Michael the archangel multi-profile clinical hospital, Givi Zhvania Pediatric Academic Clinic, EVEX Medical Corporation and practitioners from different clinics.

According to Micheil Diakonidze, Chairman of “Public Opinion” and Chief Specialist of the Department of Students and the Alumni Relations, the necessity in conducting the  forum was stipulated by frequent physical assaults impacting on the both patient-doctor relationship and formation of public negative attitude to health care workers.

Forum discussed medical, ethical and legal issues of doctor - patient relationship, the legal regulations of Georgia, experience of European countries and administrative sanctions against physicians. Due to the existed problems the question of Medical Ombudsman will be considered  by the Commission for Medical Ethics created by Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia - said Mikhail Diakonidze. Public interest were attended the reports (,,ethical and legal issues on patient rights, according to the Law of Georgia ", " legal regulations and the reality of relationship between juvenile patients and their legal representatives" and “regulations of  physicians' professional activities ") by TSMU Professors: Givi Javashvili, Irma manjavidzisa and Guram Kiknadze  Set future events.
