On  July 26-28, 2014, the 6th International Conference on "Health and Ecology", organized by Faculty of Public Health of Tbilisi State Medical University and the "Medical Ecology Association", was  held in the most beautiful corner of Georgia - Svaneti, Mestia.

The conference was opened and participants welcomed by: Professor Marina Giorgobani, President of Association of Medical Ecology, Academic Doctor and  and Professor Bidzina Zurashvili TSMU Dean of the Faculty of Public Health.

To the 6th Conference on "Health and Ecology" were invited the doctors of Mestia Regional Hospital: Adilar Chartolan former chief doctor of Mestia Regional Hospital, recepient of the Order of Merit, Omar Tchkadua famous local surgeon, Zaza Kurtanidze young surgeon, Zamir Ratiani, Manager of Mestia Regional Hospital, official representative of MoH in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Region, as well as Irma Jachvliani, Head of PR Department of Mestia Municipality.

The scientific papers were presented by  young researchers: Maia Gogua "Using grape stones and coriander oil in treatment of periodontitis", Sesili Beriashvili “study of caries risks at thyroid dysfunction”, Tamar Suladze “Impact of intestinal dysbacteriosis on  dental disease in children”. After them famous scholars and practitioner doctors made very interesting presentations on different medical issues. The reports were made by Professors Marina Giorgobiani and Bidzina Zurashvili - "Global Environmental pollution and perspectives for application of the means to enhance modern human adaptive mechanisms", P. Japaridze “Detection of fluorine content in drinking waters in Ajara region”, Maia Tsimakuridze" peculiarities of health disturbances after the cessation of contact with industrial hazards", Prof. Karaman Pagava"Ecological Pediatrics: challenges and possible responses”, Prof. T.Shishniashvili “early diagnostics of lead accumulation and mineral metabolism in young children according to hair and tooth spectral analysis”, Prof. Avtandil Kochlamazashvili “Psychological Stenocardia”, Prof. Maia Kherkheulidze “Factors influencing development of young children”, Prof. Michel Shavdia “Main Principles of Pain management”, T.Gogichadze “Possible interaction between the bacteria and malignant tumors”, Prof. Neli Antelava “Stucy of subacute toxicity of  sulfide moods spread in Ajara Region”.

Presented reports and presentations at the 6th International conference - "Ecology and Health" were published in the professional journal "Experimental and Clinical Medicine" № 3, 2014. All participants were awarded the certificates. Doctors participating in the conference, Professor Michael Shavdia (oncologist), Avtandil Kochlamazashvili (cardiologist), and Nino Adamia and  Nino Manjavidze (pediatricians) conducted free medical consultations at Mestia Regional Hospital for local patients.

Within the conference, on  July 27, the organizers and the participants wished happy birthday to Professor Neli Antelava. Prof. Marina Giorgobiani read the letter of congratulations of Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria, Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University, to Prof. Neli Antelava and gave her the memorable gifts. Within the conference cultural events were also planned.
