Award for Fruitful Collaboration

On September 18, the special ceremony devoted to the 10th anniversary of "JSI” John Snow organization activity in Georgia and the contribution made by Georgian partners was held at Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel.

Among the other organizations, Tbilisi State Medical University was awarded for particularly fruitful collaboration. Georgian partners were awarded by Richard  Norland, Ambassador of the United States to Georgia and Ken Olivola, Director, International Division at John Snow Inc. JSI organization made outstanding contribution for development of modern system of teaching and assessment of clinical skills at Tbilisi State Medical University.

It was the first time that with the promotion of this organization the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) in obstetrics and gynecology was implemented at the University for IV year students.

The mentioned Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is an important part of undergraduate medical education reform, implemented on the base of USAID SUSTAIN  program with financial support of the United States Agency for International Development and in close cooperation with Tbilisi State Medical University and the University of Oslo. In the nearest future, the University intends to use OSCE- for other clinical disciplines as well with its final full integration into the university curriculum.
