TSMU Rector at Poznan University of Medical Sciences (Poland)

On October 1 - 4 2014, Professor Zurab Vadachkoria Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University and Professor Marina Mamaladze Head of the Department of Odontology were on official visit to the Poznan University of Medical Sciences  (Poland) by the  invitation of Prof. Jacek Wysocki, Rector of PUMS.

The main purpose of the visit was deepening the partnership between the universities. Within the framework of the  visit, Georgian delegates met: University Rector Prof. Jacek Wysocky, Vice-Rector, Prof. Yaroslav Valkoviak, Vice-Rector Prof. Grzegorz Oszskins, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, N.2, Zbigniew Krasinski, Prof. Anna Surdaka, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Lucjusz Zaprutko, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Krzysztof Osmola, Head of the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, Bpozhena Raducha Head of International Affairs Department.

There were detected the directions for future cooperation: exchange of students and professors, academic, research and clinical activities. In the next year within the framework of cooperation, the Students Scientific Conference will be held in Poznan, where the students from Tbilisi State Medical University will participate as well.  

Rector of Poznan University of Medical Sciences expressed his thankfulness to  Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria Rector of TSMU for the training course provided by TSMU for Polish students, in which great contribution was made by Giga Sordia Head of the students and the Alumni Relations Department and Gogi Chikovani, specialist of the same Department. Vice-Rector Prof. Grzegorz Oszskins, mentioned that in 2013 Prof. Konstantine Kipiani, Head of TSMU  N1 Surgery Department (Cardiovascular Surgery direction) was at his Department and he expressed desire to continue further cooperation with the  TSMU Cardiovascular Surgery  Department. According to Vice-Rector Professor Yaroslav Valkoviak Poznan University of Medical Sciences is ready to host two Georgian Professor-Pediatricians in nearest future.

Professor Zurab Vadachkoria and Professor Marina Mamaladze visited the University Center of Stomatology equipped with the latest German technology. Professor Zurab Vadachkoria and Professor Marina Mamaladze attended clinical course practical lessons of V and III year students. Polish colleagues told guests that next year they are planning to implement the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) in  dentistry at the Poznan University. Profesor-stomatologists carefully listened to four-year experience of the OSCE reported by Professor of TSMU Department of Odontology.

Prof. Marina Mamaladze suggested concrete measures of cooperation. Polish Professors of dentistry expressed their willing to visit Georgia and share the Georgian experience on OSCE implementation and be acquainted with the academic process at TSMU Faculty of Stomatology.  Georgian Professors were introduced to the activities of Maxilofacial and Surgery Department as well.

The Library of  Poznan University of Medical Science was very impressive  and deserved  special attention.

On October 3, 2014 the guests attended the opening ceremony of the new academic year, which was held at the Adam Mickiewicz University Concert Hall. Together with numerous students the event was attended by the colleagues from the U.S. and Moldova as well.
