TSMU Representatives to Yerevan State Medical University

On November 2-7, 2014, Prof. David Topuria Head of the Department of Overseas Students Education  and Assistant Professor Omar Samushia Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine were on visit to Yerevan State Medical University (Armenia).

Armenian colleagues are interested in close collaboration with Tbilisi State Medical University and exchange programs for both academic personnel and students. Obviously, this proposal is acceptable and interesting for Georgian side as well.

During their stay in Yerevan TSMU representatives were welcomed by: Mikayel Narimanyan, Rector, Yervand Sahakyan, Vice Rector for International Affairs, Anna Termarkosian Head of Department of Educational Programs, Nune Shakhverdian, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Head of University Clinics.

The guests were introduced to Yerevan State Medical University's style of activities and plans, showed infrastructure works, theoretical and clinical departments. They agreed that they will accept TSMU students at gynecology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology and cardiology departments, where the infrastructure is highly organized.

Yerevan State Medical University expressed desire, in addition to the student’s exchange programs, inactivate the exchange programs for academic personnel and students of postgraduate education. According to them they will provide our students with all facilities necessary for proper training  and work.

Rector of Yerevan State Medical University suggested to launch  exchange programs in March 2015 and  handed the list of the 15 professors who are ready to come to Georgia and delivered a lecture to the students in English and Russian languages. They are waiting for analogous suggestion from Georgian side as well.

Finally, the hosts noted that the representatives of Yerevan State Medical University will be happy to come to Georgia for dealing agreement with Tbilisi State Medical University.
