Prospects for Implementation of New Educational-Professional Programs at Tbilisi State Medical University

On February 18, 2015, Professor Zurab Vadachkoria, Rector of TSMU met with Mrs. Juliette Morgan, Director of Global Disease Detection Program, US CDC – South Caucasus (Republic of Georgia Office); Mr. Eric Tingren, Director of Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Program, South Caucasus and Mrs. Marika Geleishvili, Senior Advisor at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Georgian Office.

The meeting was attended by Zurab Orjonikidze, Chancellor of TSMU; Prof. Rima Beriashvili, Vice-Rector of TSMU; George Abesadze, Vice-Rector of TSMU; Professor Zaza Bokhua, Director of the Institute of Post-Graduate education and Continuing Professional Development; Professor Nodar Lomidze, Director of  The First University Clinic.

Within the frames of the meeting the sides discussed about implementation of the new programs at TSMU: "Investigation of antimicrobial resistance through strengthening surveillance system of nosocomial infections" and "Development Strategy for South Caucasus Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Studies". In nearest future employment of TSMU graduates in the field of public health will be available throughout the country.
