On April 15-18, 2015, Professor Zurab Vadachkoria, Rector of TSMU and Professor Rima Beriashvili, Vice-Rector of TSMU paid the official visit to Antwerp (Belgium), where they attended the Annual Conference of the European University Association and  participated in the General Assembly and voting.

The conference was devoted to  "Research and Innovation in European universities"; The following main trends of science development in the European Region were reviewed:

• Development of science policies - regional transformation and promotion of innovations;

• Role of the university in preparation of new generation of researchers,

• Partnership and cooperation between the universities.

Conference speech was made by Carlos Moedas – European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation. During the Conference, a special focus was made on university research funding problems, training of a new generation of researchers and post-graduate education.

At the General Assembly, a new president of the European University Association - Professor Rolf Tarrach and five new members of the Council were elected by voting.
