On June 2, 2015, Georgian-German joint Conference on "Surgery: Modern Achievements and Prospects" dedicated to the memory of Professor Nodar Grigolia, an eminent surgeon, was held at TSMU.

The conference was opened by Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria, Rector of TSMU, who talked about the personal and professional merits of Prof. Nodar Grigolia. Prof. George Giorgobiani, his disciple, talked about the merits and services of Prof. Nodar Grigolia more widely.

The conference was attended by PD.Dr. med. Reinhold A. Lang, PD. Dr. med. Fritz Spelsberg, PD Dr. med. Georgios Meimarakis and Dr. med. George Grigolia, M.D., Ph.D., HD of TSMU, working in Germany. Another advanced student of TSMU was granted a scholarship  of Nodar Grigolia- Father of Giorgi Grigolia.

As is known, it is  already the third year, at the initiative of Giorgi Grigolia, advanced students who choose the profession of surgery, are granted Professor Nodar Grigolia’s scholarship. At the Conference the guests gave the presentations on:  "Methods of surgical therapy at reflux disease: standard and technique" by PD. Dr. Reinhold A. Lang, " Endo-vacuum therapy at anastomotic insufficiency" by PD. Dr. Fritz Spelsberg " and  "Infrarenal aortic aneurysm: diagnosis and therapy " by PD. Dr. Georgios Meimarakis.

The final part of the Conference was devoted to signing the Memorandum between Tbilisi State Medical University and academic clinic of Munich Ludwig-Maximilian  University.
