Georgia Joined the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA)

   
   

On August 3-9, 2015, General Assembly of the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA), (IFMSA) was held in Ohrid (Republic of Macedonia). At the Assembly, among the other issues the membership of Georgia to the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA) was discussed. IFMSA is International Association of non-governmental organizations which includes 1.2 million medical students and the Students’ Associations created by them throughout the world. This organization was founded in 1951. Currently, it includes 126 member organizations. It was recognized by the United Nations and the World Health Organization as the International Forum for medical students and young doctors. On August 5, 2015, the General Assembly supported the membership of Georgia to the International Federation of Medical Students Associations. At the Summit, TSMU was represented by Nika Gvazava, VI year student of TSMU Faculty of Medicine, Chairman of the Department of Education at Students’ Self-Governmental Organization and Ilia Nadareishvili, student of AIETI Medical School. From 2015, TSMU and its students will be the official representatives of the named International Organization in Georgia. It should be noted that the TSMU is a member of: the European Medical Students Association (EMSA), the European Pharmaceutical Students' Association (EPSA), the European Dental Students Association (EDSA).
