Professor Michael J. Lentze was Awarded the Presidential Order of Excellence

On November 27, 2015, a ceremonial meeting dedicated to the birthday of Prof. Michael J. Lentze was held at TSMU Givi Zhvania Pediatric Academic Clinic. According to the order issued by the President of Georgia, for personal contribution made to protect children’s health and humanitarian assistance to Georgia, Prof. Michael J. Lentze, MD PhD, Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics, was awarded the Presidential Order of Excellence.

On behalf of the President of Georgia, Mr. George Abashishvili - Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, handed the Presidential Order of Excellence to Prof. Michael J. Lentze.

The ceremonial meeting was opened by Professor Lia Dzidziguri, General Director of the Clinic.  She talked about the great contribution made by Prof. Michael J. Lentze to Georgian people. For the last 2 years Prof. Michael J. Lentze, former Director of Pediatric Clinic of Bonn, President of the European Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition in 2004-2007, organizer of many International Congresses and Conferences, works at TSMU Givi Zhvania Pediatric Academic Clinic, under the German government DAAD program. With his direct and active involvement, the modern methods of diagnosis, treatment and management of pediatric and surgical gastroenterology were widely implemented at the Clinic. It should be emphasized that Prof. Michael J. Lentze donated the equipment for providing fibro-endoscopy, anesthesiology and intensive care to TSMU Givi Zhvania Pediatric Academic Clinic. Together with Georgian colleagues he provides free medical consultations for pediatric patients. German Professor was congratulated on the deserved award by Professors: Nugzar Uberi, Karaman Paghava, Manana Zhvania, Nana Geladze and Merab Buadze. Professor Lentze expressed his gratitude to the President and the people of Georgia and said that this is the first award in his life, and this day will never be forgotten.
