Professor Ramaz Shengelia – Member of The European Academy of Sciences and Arts

On March 5-11, 2016, Prof. Ramaz Shengelia, Head of TSMU Department of Medicine History and Bioethics was invited to Austria, to be inaugurated as an active member of  “The European Academy of Sciences and Arts”. In September, last year, Professor Shengelia was elected as an  active member of  “The European Academy of Sciences and Arts”. Previously, this honor was bestowed only 9 Georgian scientists. Professor Ramaz Shengelia is the third candidate from Georgia in the field of medicine. This honorary title was already awarded to Prof. Zurab Vadachkoria Rector of TSMU and Academician Fridon Todua TSMU honorary Doctor.  "The European Academy of Sciences and Arts" was created in the 80s of the last century and represents a significant scientific society. It counts around 1800 members from around the world. Currently, the Academy has 5 Nobel Prize-winners as active members and 32 "nominates" are selected as honorary members. The inauguration ceremony was held at the Academy headquarters, located in Salzburg, Austria, where the new members "of the European Academy were welcomed and addressed by President Felix Jünger, a well-known cardiac surgeon and public figure who introduced  concept of "Future Europe" to the audience. At the inauguration ceremony Professor Ramaz Shengelia was awarded the appropriate certificate. Prof. Ramaz Shengelia participated in the session, focused on the "Future Europe" concept. The ideas submitted by Professor Ramaz Shengelia will be included in published book  "Next Europe".
