AAF/OMI South Caucasus Satellite Symposium -

On October 17-18, 2016, South Caucasus Satellite Symposium - "Effective use of simulation-based medical education", supported by the America-Austrian Development  Foundation and "Open Medical Institute"  was held at Tbilisi State Medical University. At the Symposium, Prof. James M. Callahan  and Prof. Sage Myers made presentations on the use of simulations, scenario creation and evaluation issues. The symposium wasopened and the audience greeted by Prof. Rima Beriashvili, Vice-Rector of  Tbilisi State Medical University.Academic personnel of Tbilisi State Medical University was actively involved in the work of the Symposium. Prof. Gorkmaz Ahmedov, Head of Clinical Skill Center of Azerbaijan Medical University and a technical assistant - Jamil Hasanov visited Tbilisi State Medical University to attend the Symposium. On the second day of the symposium, Prof. James M. Callahan  and Prof. Sage Myers met with the Prof. Rima Beriashvili, Vice-Rector of TSMU. The meeting was attended by Prof. Irma Manjavidze Director of TSMU Clinical Skills Center and Nino Kandelaki Chief Specialist of TSMU International Affairs Department. They discussed the prospects for future cooperation. A special reception for the invited experts and guests of South Caucasus Satellite Symposium - "Effective use of simulation-based medical education" was arranged in the office of "Open Society Georgia".  

To the end of Symposium Prof. Tina Chikovani addressed to the audience and guests and expressed thankfulness to the international experts on behalf of the leadership of Tbilisi State Medical University and TSMU Clinics. International experts: Prof. James Callahan and Prof. Sage Myers expressed their appreciation for the high level of organization of the Satellite Symposium.

The guests also visited the Clinical Skills Center of TSMU. Professor Irma Manjavidze provided the  detailed information about the work of the Center and integration of simulation into the curriculum of TSMU.
