H.E. Janis Zlamets Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Georgia Visited TSMU I. Kutateladze Institute of Pharmacochemistry

 

On February 28, 2017, H.E. Janis Zlamets Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Georgia Visited TSMU I.Kutateladze Institute of Pharmacochemistry. The guests were welcomed by Professor Nana Gorgaslidze Director of I.Kutateladze Institute of Pharmacochemistry. The aim of the visit was an acquaintance with the TSMU I.Kutateladze Institute of Pharmacochemistry and the century-old traditions of Georgian science  as well as visiting the Star opened in honor of Eduard Abols - a famous Latvian scientist.

"It is important that you have such esteem to the deep mark, left by a Latvian scientist, Eduard Abols in development of Georgian science. Such respect for your history will bring closer and bind our countries - Georgia and Latvia"- said H.E. Janis Zlamets Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Georgia.

According to Prof.  Nana Gorgaslidze  "On February 29 will be the 125th anniversary of Eduard Abols.  Star opening ceremony was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of his scientific activity in Georgia”.

Since 1926 Eduard Abolis was the Head of  Pharmacobotany Department, since 1932 – Headed the same Department at the Institute of Pharmacology. He spent his life in Georgia, perfectly knew Georgian language, was a great scholar, polyglot (11 languages), and wrote poems ".

At the end of the visit, H.E. Janis Zlamets Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Georgia together with the representatives of the Embassy, laid flowers at  the star of  Latvian scientist.
