Signing of the Memorandum on Construction of High Standard Palliative Care Center

On 13 November 2017, within the frames of the Agreement between Georgia and the Czech Republic, The Memorandum on“Implementation of Services of Long-Term and Palliative Care for Children in Georgia” was signed at the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia”.  This  Memorandum of Understanding on “Implementation of Services of Long-Term and Palliative Care for Children” was signed by Nino Berdzuli, Deputy Minister of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia,  Pavel Frelich Director of Czech Development Agency and Prof. Zurab Orjonikidze, Chancellor of Tbilisi State Medical University. The project is aiming at construction and building ofd high standards palliative care center on the territory of Givi Zhvania Pediatric Academic Clinic of Tbilisi State Medical University, and staffing it with appropriate personnel resources and technical equipment. Palliative care is a multidisciplinary approach to specialized medical and nursing care for people with life-limiting illnesses. Its primary task is to relief pain and other pathological symptoms as well as providing social, psychological and spiritual support to the patients.  The event was also attended by: Marina Darakhvelidze Head of Healthcare Department, Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia; David Bibilashvili Head of Administration; Jan Chernick Development Attache of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Georgia, Katerina Simova Coordinator for Eastern Europe Countries of Czech Development Agency;  Eka Meskhrikadze,  Director of  the Georgian branch of charity organization - "Czech Caritas".
