On December  1, 2017, the lecture  "What is the HIV / AIDS and the means to combat it?"  dedicated to the World Day of Fight Against AIDS, organized by Ivane Tarkhnishvili Student Scientific Society was held  at Tbilisi State Medical University. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Malvina Javakhadze, MD, PhD, Associate Professor at the Department of Infectious Diseases (Doctor-Infectionist)  of Tbilisi State Medical University. The event was public and served to increase public awareness to the AIDS pandemic. The lecture was focused on: main characteristics for development of HIV / AIDS, associated diseases, history of infection development, infectious disease epidemiology, prevention mechanisms, treatment principles, Defeating Stigma, etc. Ivane Tarkhnishvili Students' Scientific Society expresses its gratefulness to Prof. Malvina Javakhadze for interesting and comprehensive lecture.
