On March 15, 2018, the Scientific-Practical Conference on "Advanced Treatment Methods for Oral Mucosa and Periodontal Diseases” was held at the Theater Hall of Tbilisi State Medical University. The conference was opened and the audience was welcomed by Professor Marina Mamaladze, Head of the TSMU Department of Odontology, President of Georgian Professional Association of Stomatologists, Clinical Director of “UniDent” - Dental Clinic, Training and Research Center. She expressed her thankfulness to the organizers of the conference: Georgian Professional Association of Stomatologists; TSMU Department of Periodontal and Oral Mucosa Diseases; Representation of Alpine Pharma in Georgia; “UniDent” - Dental Clinic, Training and Research Center;  and HBI - Dentimplant - Georgian-German Implantation Center. Professor Marina Mamaladze spoke about the importance and purpose of the conference: "Treatment of such common dental diseases as periodontal diseases is problematic even on the background of modern approaches. Patients sometimes find out that using modern methods of treatment is not enough and repeating the course of treatment (once every 3-6 months) and keeping long term co-operation with the doctor is of great importance. The best solution for solving this problem is to outline a personalized plan based on the universally adopted principles of complex treatment. The Conference is focused on discussion with the doctor-stomatologists about the latest classification of periodontal diseases, the new paradigm of treatment, philosophy and the most common diseases of oral mucosa - diagnosis of diagnosis of infectious stomatitis, differential diagnostics and modern principles of treatment. It is obvious that the treatment of these diseases is considered as a serious issue and success depends on doctor’s knowledge, modern skills and methods of treatment and what is more important the doctor should be focused on the main goal - patient's recovery. Dental services are often carried out by private structures/units and today, treatment of dental diseases practically is not funded by insurance companies. The insurance companies should be informed that these diseases are belonged to a really serious illness which is characterized with a progression, teeth loss, after which rehabilitation of oral cavity will be connected with much expenses. We would like to remind you the latest classification of periodontal diseases (Armitage G. C, 1999) adopted at the unified symposium of American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) and European Federation of Periodontology (EFP). At the same time, today's meeting is aiming at introducing the treatment protocol submitted to the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia by the Georgian Professional Association of Stomatologists, with active involvement of Department of Odontology and Department of Oral Mucosa and Periodontal Diseases of Tbilisi State Medical University to the doctors and young specialists. We are proud to emphasize that the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs  approved the protocol.  Finally, we want to pay attention to diseases of the oral mucous membrane. It is rarely isolated, often expressing other problems, , Prof. Manana Iverieli will talk about infectious stomatitis". Nino Abashidze, Associate Professor of TSMU Department of Oral Mucosa and Periodontal Diseases, Vice-President of the Georgian Professional Association of Stomatologists and Clinical Director of HBI - Dentimplant - Georgian-German Implantation Center presented the report: "The latest classification of periodontal diseases philosophy of treatment", Manana Iverieli, Head of TSMU Department of Oral Mucosa and Periodontal Diseases and President of the Georgian Professional Association of Stomatologists read the report on “Infectious stomatitis - diagnostics, dif-diagnostics, modern principles of  treatment and trachisan". A number of attendees gathered at the TSMU Theater Hall (about 530): the conference was attended by students, residents, doctor-stomatologists from different clinics. According to them  they received the most fruitful and important information and expressed their gratefulness to the organizers of  the conference.
