On June 8, 2018, the fifth International Conference on Sports Medicine was organized at Tbilisi State Medical University, which was attended by Estonian, Serbian, Moldovan and Lithuanian experts of different fields of sports medicine. Among the guests of the conference were: Nino Salukvadze, Vice-President of Georgian national Olympic Committee and Edisher Machaidze, Head of the Committee of Sports and Youth Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia. The conference was opened by Dr. Valeri Akhalkatsi, President of Georgian Sports Medicine Association, Director of the Clinical Center of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation of Tbilisi State Medical University. Professor Zurab Vadachkoria, Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University also addressed to the audience. In his speech he emphasized the importance of the University and international relations. Professor Emilie Chekanauskas, one of the participants of the Conference from Lithuania congratulated on the 100th anniversary of independence of Georgia and noted that Lithuania has always been the supporter of Georgia’s membership in the EU. According to Professor Lela Maskhulia Dean of the Faculty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, International Conference of Sports Medicine has become a tradition in Tbilisi State Medical University that is of great importance for sharing results of research activities with Georgian and foreign colleagues.
