Presentation of Online Training Course in Antenatal Surveillance at Tbilisi State Medical University

On July 13, 2018, the presentation of online training course on antenatal surveillance was held at Tbilisi State Medical University. The event was organized by Tbilisi State Medical University and UNFPA Office in Georgia, and supported by the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia. The online course in antenatal surveillance is based on the new, highly credible scientific evidences and the latest recommendations provided by the World Health Organization. The training course, which is available in Georgian language and intended for residency students and physicians working at all levels of healthcare system, offers high quality and sustainable training on modern methods and practices of antenatal surveillance to the service providers. Course is based on three basic principles: "learning, practice, knowledge assessment" and, therefore, takes into account testing the medical professionals and in case of successful completion of the course Certificates will be issued. Antenatal surveillance online training course was developed within the frames of the memorandum concluded between the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia Office and Tbilisi State Medical University and is considered as the novelty in Postgraduate Medical Education and Continuing Professional Development direction.   The high-quality online training course will create will create comfortable conditions for participants who will have the opportunity to gain new knowledge and develop professional skills without leaving their working environment. This will facilitate the availability of reproductive health services. The event was opened and talked about the importance of the training course by: Professor Zurab Vadachkoria, Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University; Associate Professor Zaza Bokhua the First Deputy Minister of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia; Lela Bakradze, Head of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia Office. At the meeting Akaki Barkalaia, Head of the Department of Continuous Professional Development at the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Continuous Professional Development, made a short presentation of the online training course in antenatal surveillance. The course presentation was attended by: Maia Lagvilava Deputy Minister of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, representatives of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia Office, Tbilisi State Medical University, experts, students and residents in the field of reproductive health.
