Delegation of the Tbilisi State Medical University at the “WFME – 2019” Conference

On April 7-10, 2019 the delegation of Tbilisi State Medical University, consisted of Prof. Zurab Orjonikidze, Chancellor of TSMU, Prof. Khatuna Todadze Vice Rector, Prof.Gaiane Simonia, Head of TSMU Department of Medical Education, Research and Strategic Development and Archil Undilashvili coordinator of US MD Program of Employed Medicines, Representative of Emory University School of Medicine participated in the WFME 2019 Conference held in Seoul, South Korea. Prof. Zurab Orjonikidze and Prof. Khatuna Todadze had the honour to hand the certificates to Prof. David Gordon, FRCP FMedSci,  President of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) certifying the title of Honorary Doctor of TSMU awarded by the TSMU Academic Council for his great contribution to the development of higher medical education in Georgia. It should be noted that the World Federation of Medical Education is an important organization that actively cares about the quality of medical education across the globe, leading to the continuous process of development and updating of education standards. Its agencies study the medical programs and grant them international accreditation.   It should be emphasized that in 2018, the National Center for Education Quality Enhancement (NCEQE) has been rewarded recognition status by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) that means that the accredited by the Center medical education programs will have international recognition. At the conference, many issues were discussed in order to improve the quality of undergraduate, postgraduate and as well as continuous medical education.  Professor Gaiane Simonia made the presentation "Development of Standards for Basic Medical Education in Georgia " (co-authors: Giorgi Vashakidze, Zurab Vadachkoria, Khatuna Todadze, Rima Beriashvili).
