ბათუმის შოთა რუსთაველის სახელმწიფო უნივერსიტეტში HERD-ის შემაჯამებელი კონფერენცია გაიმართა

The final conference on HERD was organized at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University

On June 24-25 the final conference on the ERASMUS + KA2 Project  “Raising Research Capacity of Georgian HEIs through Developing R&D Units - HERD” was organized at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The conference was opened by the speech of Prof. Merab Khalvashi, Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Project Coordinator, Deputy Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University in the field of Science Nino Okribelashvili, representatives of project partners’ public institutions: Nunu Mitskevich, Deputy Minister of Education and Jaba Samushi, General Director of the Georgian National Foundation of Shota Rustaveli.

The conference was attended by the TSMU representatives: Professor Sophia Bakhtadze, TSMU Vice Rector, Prof. Rima Beriashvili, Assoc. Prof. Nona Janikashvili, ERASMUS + Coordinator Nino Kandelaki, Chief Specialist  of the TSMU Economic Department, Vakhtang Beroshvili, Network Administrator, Akaki Karsanidze, Chief Specialist of the Department of Research Coordination, Master and PhD Programs, Teona Tkeshelashvili and Chief Specialist of the Public Relations Department, Natia Kankia. 

The first part of the conference was dedicated to the panel discussion. Current issues on the management of scientific activities of the universities were discussed. Chief Specialist of the Department of Research Coordination, Master and PhD Programs, Assoc. Prof. Nona Janikashvili presented a report on the research management tools, support mechanisms and technological transfer opportunities for ongoing innovative research at TSMU. Assoc. Prof. Nona Janikashvili noted, within the framework of the project a joint research platform was created which raises visibility of the scientific productivity of doctors and representatives of the healthcare sector. The portal also promotes Georgian scientists within the country and abroad, connecting with potential partners and colleagues and expanding further research opportunities.

The project“Raising Research Capacity of Georgian HEIs through Developing R&D Unit – HERD” united twelve Georgian higher education institutions and three European universities aiming to modernize the quality of research services of member universities, enhance research potential and quality, and integrate teaching and research components on the institutional level. Within the framework of the project, the portal of the Georgian scientific information system GRIS.emis.ge was created. The portal offers relevant scientific data to all who are interested in searching for innovative research. The Georgian Scientific Information System Portal currently combines data from about 5,000 academic staff, researchers and doctoral students working in Georgia. More than 400 participants are TSMU academic and scientific staff.
