On September
8-10, 2022 the 7th International Congress of Georgian Respiratory
Association was organized in Batumi. 950 delegates from 26 countries including
35 presenters from European, the US, African and Asian countries participated
in the congress. The congress was headed by Professor Ivane Chkhaidze, Head of
the Tbilisi State Medical University, Department of Pediatrics.
During the
congress, Batumi became the main medical center of Georgia, where the leading
Georgian field specialists met and shared their ideas to each other. 89
presentations were presented at 23 parallel symposiums. The presentation concerned
vulnerable issues in oncology, surgery, critical care medicine and infectious
diseases, TB and asthma, allergology and chronic lung diseases, pediatrics and
neonatology, COVID-19 and immunization.
A different
format Georgian-Lithuanian-Ukrainian solidarity symposium was organized for the
first time this year. A workshop "Communicating with colleagues - a
practical approach", as well as workshop on the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and
Covid-19 immunization symposiums were held within the framework of the congress.
The event was
supported by the Government of Adjara, the Ministry of Health and Social
Affairs of Adjara, Batumi City Hall and Tbilisi State Medical University. Most
of the Georgian presenters were Tbilisi State Medical University professors.
Professor Zurab Vadachkoria, Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University
presented a speech at the opening ceremony of the congress.
According to the
number of speakers and participants, the 7th International Congress
of Georgian Respiratory Association was the first large scale scientific and
educational event in Georgia for the last three pandemic years.
