Nephrology Clinical Centre of Tbilisi State Medical University and Ingorokva High Medical Technology University Clinic (Head of the center is Prof. Irma Tchokhonelidze TSMU Internal Medicine N 2 Department) was awarded with a Robert Schreyer grant.
Within the framework of the “Friendly Countries Program”, cooperation between the Nephrology Clinical Centre and Nephrology Department of Ghent University (Belgium) was established in 2015.
The Nephrology Clinical Centre has successfully undergone each level of development and achieved the primary goals: foundation of interventional nephrology, multidisciplinary approach in nephrology, modern approaches in kidney transplantation. When the project was completed, Tbilisi-Ghent cooperation was considered as the best model in the field.
“Within the framework of cooperation Nephrology Department of Ghent University became our supervisor. They helped us to implement and modernize protocols and nursing school, update skills and theoretical knowledge. As a consequence, a new multidisciplinary team with advanced knowledge, skills and approaches was formed. The changes have been reflected in patients’ treatment” – said Prof. Irma Tchokhonelidze.
Nephrology Clinical Centre of Tbilisi State Medical University and Ingorokva High Medical Technology University Clinic is the main base of TSMU residency programs.
