A 3-month campaign to raise awareness about functional abdominal pain has been launched in Georgia. The campaign is initiated by the European Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) and supported by the Society of Pediatric Gastroenterologists of Georgia, the Georgian Pediatric Association and the Academy of Pediatricians of Georgia. The goal of the 3-month campaign is to spread information about functional abdominal pain in children to the medical community, patients and their parents.
Within the framework of the campaign on January 29, a meeting was organized at Tbilisi State Medical University G. Zhvania Pediatric Academic Clinic. Pediatric gastroenterologist and ESPGHAN representative Mariam Ghugunashvili spoke about the significance of the campaign and reviewed the contemporary methods of managing functional abdominal pain, affecting nearly 30% of school children.
ESPGHAN develops information campaigns to raise awareness about functional abdominal pain in the society. Within the framework of the campaign meetings with pediatricians, family doctors and visits to schools and media centers will be planned.
